A Jefferson man was arrested for allegedly stealing several items valued at $250,000.
According to court documents, the Jefferson Police Department was notified by the Greene County Sheriff at noon on Wednesday about a burglary incident at a home in the 400 block of South Olive Street in Jefferson, where several coins, jewelry and cash were missing. Later that day, staff at Wild Rose Casino reported an individual who bought an assortment of coins to be sold on or about October 18th. Law enforcement reviewed the casino’s surveillance footage and identified the suspect, 46-year-old Bryce Delaney.
Court documents show casino staff turned over the coins and the victim later identified the coins that were his and that Delaney did not have permission to possess them. Delaney’s vehicle was also identified from security footage of the casino parking lot. The sheriff found the vehicle at a home in the 300 block of South Locust Street. The property owner told law enforcement that Delaney was staying in the basement of the building and gave consent for a search to be conducted.
Court documents show that law enforcement found coins that the victim also identified as his. A search warrant was then executed where the collectable coins were recovered, along with several other items that were identified to be from the same home of the victim, along with mail that also belonged to the victim, and suspected drug-related items. A second search warrant was executed at a storage unit in the 1500 block of North Elm Street where even more items were seized.
Delaney was arrested and charged with a Class C Felony for first degree theft for the items that totaled $250,000 and he was booked into the Greene County Jail. Additional charges are pending completion of the investigation. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
