A deadline has come and gone in terms of looking at a new Farm Bill to begin next year.

US Senator Chuck Grassley tells Raccoon Valley Radio he was confidently positive about there being a new five-year Farm Bill back in July and was also hopeful last month as well. However, Grassley is no longer optimistic.

“But now two weeks into October, I think the only thing we have left to do is a one year extension of the existing Farm Bill. And that would include all of the programs that are in the 2018 Farm Bill, all being extended for one year.”

If Congress were to approve a new Farm Bill or reauthorize the current legislation, it would be valid for the next five years.
