Greene County Public Health is once again hosting a drive-thru flu clinic on Wednesday.
Director Becky Wolf says the flu vaccine contains four strains of influenza, two Type A and two Type B, that were documented in the southern hemisphere previously this year. She talks about who can get the flu shot, as well as those individuals who she strongly recommends to get the vaccine.
“So anybody six months and older. Kids that are under eight, if they’ve never had the flu vaccine before, then we like to give them two doses that first time that first year, just to kind of boost their immunity. Definitely health care workers should be considering getting it. And people who have chronic illnesses, especially like heart disease, asthma, diabetes, congestive heart failure, kidney issues (and) immunity issues. But you know remember, again it’s trying to protect those people that are more at risk too.”
The drive-thru clinic will be held at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds from 3-6:30pm on Wednesday. Anyone who attends will not have to get out of their vehicle. Wolf adds they also have regular vaccination clinics at Greene County Public Health at the Greene County Medical Center on Tuesdays from 9am-noon and Thursdays from 1-4pm.
