Greene County moves up from Class 2A to 3A in cross-country this season and Coach Jeff Lamoureux’s Rams compete on Wednesday near Winterset at Lakeview Golf Course in a State Qualifying Meet. The top 15 individuals and top three teams for both girls and boys advance to the 3A State Meet at Kennedy Park north of Ft. Dodge on Saturday, Oct. 28.

Junior Noah Hinote is the lone Greene County runner with State Meet experience. He was a 3A qualifier in 2A in 2022. He would appear to have the best opportunity to move on of any Greene County runner, but the competition is stiff. Three highly ranked boys’ teams and a number of individuals rated in the top 30 statewide in 3A are expected to be in the field.

In addition to the Rams and host Huskies, teams include Atlantic, Ballard (Huxley), Boone, Clarke (Osceola), Creston, Des Moines Hoover, Glenwood, Kuemper Catholic (Carroll), Lewis Central (Council Bluffs), and North Polk (Alleman).
