Much needed rain is moving to cross Iowa over the weekend.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Ashley Bury says that one front started moving into Iowa yesterday, but that another larger one is on the way. She adds that most of the severe weather that these systems bring will actually be in Southwest Iowa, but that winds may pick up some in Central Iowa as well. Bury tells Raccoon Valley Radio how much precipitation the state should get with the storms.

“Across the state, average value is between an inch to two inches, but further north we could see some accumulations up to three inches, maybe a little bit more in some isolated areas, depending on where the storms develop exactly.”

Bury mentions that if Central Iowa, including the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area sees any severe weather, it may include hail and gusty winds. She advises that for anyone who does plan to be outside, keep a shelter in mind in case things do start to take a turn for the worse.
