Registration is open for a fun class that the Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will be towards the end of the month.

Program Director Meghan McBride says that on October 30th from 6-8:30pm, they will be hosting a “Preserve the Taste of Summer Workshop.” She adds that preserving food can be quicker and easier than many expect, and that this hands-on workshop will teach interested individuals how to safely dry foods in their homes.

Participants will prepare fruits, vegetables, herbs and fruit leather in the free to attend class. Dehydrating equipment and supplies will be provided, and those in attendance will learn how to prepare foods for dehydration, along with storing and using the dehydrated food, and will be able to taste fruit leather, along with dehydrated fruits and vegetables. Registration is required though, and can be done by visiting this link.
