There will be a church in Dallas County putting together a coat drive this weekend. 

The 2023 Dallas County Coat Drive Giveaway will be from 9 to 11 am at the Adel First Christian Church on Saturday. Organizer Della Weems says that this giveaway is a community combined effort with Adel Rotary, Knights of Columbus, St. Johns Catholic, Adel Women’s Club and the Faith Lutheran Church to donate warm coats to those in need. Weems says they are looking to hand out 250 new and slightly used coats. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that there is a need in Dallas County for warm clothing. 

“Last year we gave out about 300 coats on this Saturday. So we are basing the need off that and hopefully we can fulfill that need.”

Weems notes that the winter coats are for sizes infant through adult. Additionally, the Clothes Closet, with gently used clothing, shoes, and jackets, will also be open. The Christian Church is located at the corner of Highway 169 and Rapids Street in Adel.
