With colder temperatures comes winter right around the corner and one entity in Greene County is helping children in need.
Greene County New Opportunities Coordinator Tereasa Lansman says they are taking donations for their Warm Hearts Clothing Drive until October 20th. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that 110 kids have signed up for the program that provides winter coats, snow boots, gloves and stocking caps for the colder months. Lansman points out this program is always needed for less fortunate families.
“From August until December the families, no matter how much that they budget and save, these few months are very difficult for them. So if we can take one small burden off of their shoulders it helps them to be able to take a slight breath. And with the cost of food and everything around going up, this way they can breathe a little bit freer.”
Donations can be dropped off at Greene County New Opportunities at 1401 North Elm Street in Jefferson. Families can pick up their items on November 4th from 9-11am at the St Joseph’s Parish Center in Jefferson.
