The City of Perry is applying for a grant to help their airport.

City Administrator Sven Peterson says that they are nearing completion of expanding the runway at the Perry Municipal Airport and now they want to put some attention on the airport terminal as well as the  entrance road to the airport.  Peterson says they have applied for a local match and grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that is funding airport terminals and tower projects. Peterson mentions that they have recently received a grant from the Iowa Department of Transportation to make minor additions to the airport. He hopes the state funds will help them receive federal funding.

We applied for this FAA grant last year. We’re not successful, but hope to recycle that application into this year and leverage those state funds as part of our match to the federal funds to be able to build a completely new terminal that will be good for, you know, hopefully another 50 to 100 years if it’s well maintained. Again, trying to be good stewards of everything we have.”

The grant application would request for the construction of a new terminal building and replacement of the entrance road, for a total project cost of $2,350,000.
