A Jefferson resident is performing in a benefit concert for her native state tomorrow in Des Moines.

The Aloha Wind Presents Malama Maui at 3pm tomorrow and one of the performers is Zandra Maldonado. She was visiting family in Maui this past summer and was there when the devastating wildfires happened. Maldonado invites everyone to watch the concert and help support Maui’s rebuilding efforts, but to come with an open mind.

“In Hawaii, we try our best to respect and love each other, especially in situations like this. I’ve been noticing that there’s a lot of conspiracies and just people taking this opportunity to heighten their political party and whatnot. And that really does nothing for the Hawaiian people or the Hawaii people that were impacted. We need to actually not be divided in order to heal, we need to stand together and be in unity in order to heal.”

The concert features authentic Hawaii dancing and music. Tickets are $30 per person and the show is located at 1159 24th Street in Des Moines. The doors open at 2pm and the concert begins at 3pm. You can click the link below to purchase tickets.
