The Dallas County Secondary Roads Department accomplished five major projects this summer.
County Engineer Al Miller says that they completed a highway 44 five mile pavement project that went to F31, along with a bridge replacement on Pioneer Avenue near Beaver Creek, an asphalt overlay project on Ute Avenue. They completed projects in the River Oaks subdivision for pavement and storm sewer replacement and they completed four box culverts between highway six and highway 44. Miller says they had a plan this summer and executed it.
“Our bridges are pretty good. A handful that are load rated and really need to be replaced. But we’re trying to pick away at those, you know, a couple a year. But our pavement especially in the in kind of the southeast part of the county is really in need of replacement. So we were able to, you know, focus on R30 and and R 22 this summer and get some of the major areas that we’ve been patching and try to stay ahead of those.”
Miller says they now will focus on getting ready for the winter time such as stocking up on materials and preparing vehicles.
