A reminder that tomorrow is a fundraiser for several youth sports programs in Greene County.

The Greene County Youth Athletic Association (GCYAA) is hosting its “A Night Under the Lights” Football Scrimmage Fundraiser tomorrow at Linduska Field in Jefferson. The event begins at 6:15pm with the mini cheerleaders with the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department program performing, followed by both of the GCYAA third and fourth grade flag football and the fifth and sixth grade tackle football programs.

GCYAA President Travis Warnke is excited to have kids compete in night time games as if it were a Friday night high school football game.

“We always want that experience for our kids. There are kids that are just trying to figure out whether they like football. So we want to give them that experience in case they do not continue on with their football career, or maybe give them that extra kind of enthusiasm that, ‘Ooo, I get to look forward to this from here to NFL?’ if that’s what they’re capable of doing. That’s kind of the nice thing.”

The gates open at 5:30pm with a free will donation meal to be served at 6pm, with a suggested donation of $7. The meal will include burgers, chips and a beverage. There will also be a bake sale and a 50/50 cash raffle, with tickets of $5 each or $20 for five tickets. Proceeds from the event will go back to GCYAA and the Greene County High School football and cheerleading programs.
