Perry’s annual coed cross-country meet, the Leon Fox Invitational is named after the late former Perry coach. Greene County finished seventh among 12 teams in the boys’ race and the Greene County girls don’t have enough entries for a team score.
Winterset won the team race for boys with 38 points and the Rams had 198 points. The Rams were led by junior Noah Hinote who covered the five kilometers (3.1 miles) in 18 minutes, 18 seconds. Junior Gavyn Winters was 21st in 18:24, followed by freshman Brady Cartensensen, 37th in 19:15, senior Kolby Angell was 55th in 20:20, and freshman Eli Carstensen was 68th in 22:07. Eighty-three boys were in the race.
Ava Minnehan led the three Greene County female runners with a 37th place finish in 23:17. Becca Anderson was 64th in 24:46, and Evelyn Snyder was 103rd in 28:18. There were 121 girls in the race.
Coach Jeff Lamoureux said he was proud of how the team ran. “It is a difficult course, but conditions were pretty good with a slight breeze. I think just having run at Ogden on Tuesday hurt us a bit. Some of our runners hadn’t fully recovered, but great effort and we’ll prepare for the South Central Calhoun meet on Tuesday.”
