One of three counties in the Raccoon Valley Radio area had a decrease in unemployment last month.
According to Iowa Workforce Development, Greene County saw a drop in unemployment from July to August of 0.2 percent to 2.6 percent. Meanwhile, Guthrie County had a 0.1 percent increase in unemployment from July to August to three percent. Dallas County also saw a rise in unemployment from July to August of 0.2 percent to 2.6 percent.
Iowa’s unemployment rate went up 0.2 percent from July to August, after four consecutive months of steady unemployment rate. The unemployment rate statewide in August was 2.9 percent. The national unemployment rate for August was 3.8 percent.
