The Hometown Heritage at the Carnegie Library will be honoring a special individual with a ceremony next week.
Lee Wiese will be the 2023 inductee into the Wall of Witnesses in Soumas Court at 5pm on Wednesday, September 27th.
Lee and his wife Irene influenced many lives by their actions and words and are the founders of Wiese Foundation. Wiese was Perry’s most significant philanthropist of the last 75 years. Many places hold Wiese’s name, such as Wiese Park and the building that the Perry Public Library is in is the Wiese Building.
He was nominated and met the following criteria of having a tie with Perry, made an impact on the area and he has an interesting story. The Hometown Heritage committee reviewed all nominations and selected the Perry resident that best reflected the nomination criteria.
