Time is running out for military veterans who served during a certain time period to receive some health benefits.

As part of the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act, veterans who were deployed to a combat zone, who never enrolled in Veterans Affairs health care, and who left active duty between September 11, 2001 and October 1, 2013 can sign up by September 30th to be eligible to directly enroll into VA health care.

This is a special enrollment period for military veterans that served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other combat zones to apply directly to VA health care without having to enroll in VA benefits first. Contact the Greene County Veterans Affairs Director Michael Bierl at 515-386-5673 or email him at mbierl@greenecountyiowa.gov to learn more or to sign up.
