Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School Board met for a special meeting.

The Board approved a real estate purchase agreement for a new high school site for $2.5 million dollars. Superintendent Greg Dufoe says that this agreement was for 80-acres of land that is located south of Adel on 169, a bit south of the Lutheran Church, to build a new high school. Dufoe explains what they liked about this plot of land.

“Proximity to Adel was a big key consideration. The property itself is beautiful, including the topography, the trees as a feature, as is distinguishing. As of right now, our study shows utilities will not be a problem. And so it just seemed to be just a perfect spot.

Dufoe mentions that they will now study the feasibility of the land.

“Starting to engage with the dot and city regarding traffic. Highway 169 is busy, so we need to get into a study in regards to what kind of modifications we need to put in place, you know, with the new high school there.”

Dufoe calls this a big step for the school district before the bond election on November 7th.
