The Department of Natural Resources is hosting a course for wannabe hunters.

There will be a hunter safety field day course from 7:30 to 11:30 am on September 30th at the Washington Township Building in Minburn. DNR Conservation Officer for Dallas County Dustin Eighmy says this is only for anyone 12 to 16 years old. Eighmy mentions the student will spend time with him going over hunting rules and regulations and ethics and then they will shoot air rifles and complete a 50 question test to be able to purchase a hunter license. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the students will also have to finish the online course before showing up.

“It’s a stop and go classroom. They can spend a couple of hours in the evening after school, log right in, go through that coursework and answer the questions and whatnot, and they could quit for the evening and pick it back up the next day if they would like to. So you’ve got to get a little bit of time here to get that all completed.
