When Kuemper Catholic and Greene County square off in Class 2A District 8 football this Friday night at Linduska Field in Jefferson, it will be just the second of five district games for both teams, but it could be THE game for both teams. The Rams and Knights are used to either winning or finishing second in their respective football districts in recent seasons and it’s possible there could be more of the same this season. The other teams in the district may have something to say about that, but strong arguments can be made that the Knights and Rams matchup could determine who wins the District 8 title.

According to the polls, the Rams are the higher ranked team, rated in the top 10 in most 2A rankings. Kuemper Catholic is 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the district, but their four opponents have a combined 12-4 record. Greene County is 3-1 and 1-0, but the Rams’ opposition has posted just a 4-12 mark. The Knights won the 2022 game by a 35-0 score in Carroll and the Rams won 13-3 in Jefferson in 2021.

Friday’s game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff at 7 o’clock.
