It’s Homecoming Week for Greene County High School and there’s lots going on.

Student Council President Gavin Vander Linden says this year’s theme is “Rams Got Game” with a board game feel. The dress up days also have specific board games with them. Monday is pajama day with “Candy Land Sweet Dreams,” and Tuesday is “Scrabble Day” where people can dress up as something with their first initial. Wednesday is “LIFE” with specific grades dressing up in different stages of life with the community and teachers encouraged to be teenagers. The rest of the week is “Monopoly Day” on Thursday, where people can be tourists and Friday is “Checkers Day” and dress up in red and black for Rams spirit.

Vander Linden says the community is welcomed to participate in the dress up days. People can take a picture of themselves, tag Ram Fanatic on their Facebook or Instagram and winners will be announced at the halftime of the home football game on Friday.

Vice President Georgia Osterson says there are a lot of activities happening this week. Monday is a kickball tournament at 7pm at the city softball fields and it’s also the start of Grade Goose Chase.

“So the Grade Goose Chase is an app that you divide yourself into groups based off of your grade and you go around and you have little challenges that you do. You take a picture of the challenge and submit it in. The grade with the most points gets an ice cream party.”

Wednesday is a Lip Sync Battle in the high school auditorium at 7pm, followed by the homecoming parade and coronation ceremony on Friday. The parade is at 2:15pm from the middle school north on Chestnut Street to the downtown square. The coronation ceremony takes place at the Greene County Courthouse at 3pm, followed by the home football game at 7pm. Saturday rounds out Homecoming Week with a dance from 8-10pm at the high school gym with a $10 admission charge.

Vander Linden describes the quick time frame with which to plan this year’s Homecoming.

“It’s pretty much just been a mad dash since the school year started. We’ve had, I think, two meetings and then like one before school started. So we divided up into groups at the meetings and we’ve just worked like as officers each leading a group to knock as many things out as we can.”

Anyone from the public can participate in the parade by contacting Kelley Gray at the high school at 515-386-4168.
