One non-profit organization continues to support a group of public employees in Greene County with opportunities for youth.

The Bringing Optimism and Opportunities to Students and Teachers (BOOST) recently held its 6th annual fundraiser, BOOST Bash, and board member Tracy Deal says they netted $72,000 that goes back to the teachers and staff of the Greene County School District. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that BOOST has fully funded 47 requests from teachers for this school year and she highlights one of the projects.

“The middle school art department had requested some iPads. Because if you think about nowadays, it’s not just your paper (and) pencil kind of art anymore it’s a lot of that digital media. Add that to the kids real world experiences because that is an opportunity in graphic design and all of those things that kind of wasn’t there before.”

Deal points out that BOOST also provides financial support to every teacher at the beginning of the school year as well. She talks about why she continues to be part of BOOST.

“I think for me it’s seeing that interaction with teachers and hearing from teachers on the impact it has had on them. Not only the financial impact in their classrooms but just comments or letters or thank yous we get from teachers of ‘I never felt this much support before.’ And it’s not us (as BOOST) it’s the community.”

Deal thanks the community for their financial support to help give teachers more opportunities for educational learning for students. The next BOOST Bash on April 6, 2024.
