With the “Coop” facility in Perry continuing to renovate and make even more changes before this upcoming wrestling season, one of the things that will be available will be different year-round training programs that will help keep each athlete in shape in both the offseason and during the actual wrestling season as a whole. Perry wrestling head coach Chris Dardanes talked about some of the programs the “coop” offers to his athletes.

“We got a weight lifting program in the high school for the youth, ETS. I run camps in the summer time. We got junior J Wrestling for those starter kids and we got an advanced group too. And then we got freestyle seasons. So we got every season covered. That’s what I tell my kids anyways. You have goals within each season. It’s easy to get distracted or get into the summer mode of where you’re gaining weight or hanging by the pool, and eating all day. Well that’s a good time to be in the weight room. There’s different goals throughout the season and we just try to make sure we get around to each kid a season to make sure they are on track and that we keep them on track,” Dardanes said.

Providing these type of opportunities should most definitely help when the wrestling season begins to kick off.
