Property taxes are coming due soon. 

Greene County Treasurer Katlynn Mechaelsen says property taxes are due on or before Monday, October 2nd to avoid paying a 1.5-percent monthly penalty that starts the following day. She points out there are several ways that property owners can pay their taxes, including by cash, check, credit cards, or Apple pay to her office Monday through Friday from 8am-4:30pm in the Greene County Courthouse or via the drop box on the east side of the building. Additionally, people can pay property taxes online at iowatreaurers.org or through your bank’s escrow account.

Mechaelsen adds this is the first half of property taxes, with the second half due by the end of next March. She says those property owners that do not pay their property taxes by June 17th, their property can be sold at the annual tax sale.
