The Panorama Panthers cross country team will host their first meet later today at 4:30 pm. They will compete against 14 other schools. This meet does hold some significance though as it is not only homecoming week, but is also the day where they are able to introduce their new race course. The team is very excited to debut their new course as this has been a long time project in the making. Coach Thompson had this to say about the new course, “we’re pretty pump and excited.”

There are some rules though for spectators interested in coming and celebrating the Panthers home meet. Spectators are asked to park on the south and west of the high school. Disabled parking will be just south of the stadium next to the ticket booth. Admission of $5 per person will be collected by volunteers in the parking lots.

For those that want to see more of the race, there are some trails that allow spectators to get from school grounds and the LPA nature preserve down to the lakefront (runners will not be using those trails). Runners will use a trail that takes them toward the dam, then run alongside the lake, and return to the nature preserve near the south shore condos where they will run around the edge of the nature preserve and then return to school grounds running on the west side of the baseball complex with a finish on the track.

The starting line of the race is at the east of the elementary building and north of the daycare (Panorama’s old practice football field). The finish line will be on the east of the track (near the start of the 100m Dash), so the athletes will be finishing from the west to east on the track in front of the bleachers. The concession stand and bathrooms will be open.
