As the weather has begun to change and temperatures cool off, more people are starting to spend more time inside, and illnesses are on the rise.

Guthrie County Health Services Director Jotham Arber says that one of those diseases whose numbers are climbing is Covid. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio how those who may contract the illness can keep from spreading it.

“The guidance really hasn’t changed from the last three years. So what we want to know is when was the symptom onset time? So if my symptoms started on Monday, then that’s day zero, and we’re going to want to keep ourselves away from people for the next five days. And so that would put us through the rest of the week. That’s the best mechanism to keeping other folks away from the sickness and keeping them healthy.”

Arber advises that those who do contract an illness this coming flu and disease season, take some time to evaluate how bad the symptoms are at the onset. If symptoms are meek and mild, over the counter measures should be enough to help, paired with getting plenty of rest and fluids. Arber mentions that if symptoms are bad, then definitely visit your doctor, and take an appropriate course of action.
