It’s been roughly two and a half months since the new law enforcement center for Guthrie County opened its doors.

Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright tells Raccoon Valley Radio how those months have gone for staff at the jail.

“It’s going really good. We’re housing other inmates from Polk County and Webster County, and our own. We’re averaging about 30 inmates a week. The facility is built to be safe for staff and keep inmates where they need to be, and it’s working out really well.”

Arganbright explains that by holding prisoners for another county, that county pays to cover any food and medical costs. He adds that besides increased safety for sheriff office staff, a sally port increases safety for civilians by providing a secure setting for loading and unloading.
