Dallas Center-Grimes football wins their first game and collects a new rivalry trophy.

Beisser Lumber Company sponsored the Dallas Center-Grimes versus Fort Dodge game with scholarships and trophy because they have locations in Fort Dodge and Grimes. The Mustangs would start the game with a 13 play drive that went 68 yards in five minutes and ended in a seven touchdown pass to Dayne Mauk. He would not be done doing damage to the Dodger defense because Mauk would catch a 55 yard touchdown pass and a 18 yard touchdown pass in the first half. Finally, to close the first half, Quarterback Ty Mikkelsen would find Hudson Heidgerken for a 12 yard touchdown to take a commanding 28-0 lead.

Dallas Center-Grimes would only score one more touchdown in the game from running back Eli Carpenter, but the defense held up pitching the shut out and winning 35-0. Tate Perrin collected two interceptions, but Biesser Lumber named Mauk their player of the game and awarded a $1,000 check to each school’s booster clubs.

The Mustangs are now (1-2) on the season and will ride their momentum into Ballard to take on the Bombers next Friday. Raccoon Valley Radio will broadcast that game on KDLS-2.
