The City of Perry is cracking down on violations at their recycling center.
City Administrator Sven Peterson says that they have caught multiple people dumping illegal materials like tires and garbage at their recycling center. Peterson explains that dumping illegal materials at the site is a violation to their city code. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that there is plenty of signage in English and Spanish detailing the rules and regulations along with cameras to catch violators.
“If you’re out there and see something, don’t be afraid to report it because we’ve had a yard waste drop off site in the past and it did not work out because of things like that. So I want to make sure that, you know, we as a city are able to monitor that and keep it under control, but also, you know, asking for some help from our citizens if they see something out there or witness something, you know, just jot down a license plate.”
Peterson says to report a violation call the Perry Police Department’s non-emergency number. He mentions that illegally dumping at the sanitation site can cost a violator up to $500. He adds that they’re working on getting a camera that will clearly view a vehicle’s license plate upon entering the facility.
