A Greene County-owned structure has been temporarily closed.
Greene County Supervisor Vice-Chair and Public Information Officer Dawn Rudolph tells Raccoon Valley Radio the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower in Jefferson has been closed since Thursday. She says the closure is due to a possible violation of the lighting policy for the bell tower and the county auditor made the decision to close the structure until further notice.
Rudolph says the issue will be an agenda item for their upcoming regular board meeting on Monday to discuss the matter and determine how long the bell tower closure will be. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official. A copy of the policy can be found below.
