vote-and-election-sign

Local November elections around the nation and in Guthrie County are coming soon.

Adair County Auditor Mandy Berg says that there are two city council positions that will be up for election, which are currently filled by Michael Kalbach and Kristina Renslow. Those interested in running for the positions must live within Stuart city limits, and will need a minimum of 10 signatures from eligible voters who also live inside city limits. Paperwork to file for running can be obtained at the Adair County Auditor’s Office in Greenfield, or can be printed off the Secretary of State’s website. Berg explains that candidates will need to fill out both the Affidavit of Candidacy and the Nomination Petition.

Dallas County Elections Administrator Kim Owen tells Raccoon Valley Radio that seats on the West Central Valley School Board for director districts one, two and five are up for election, with the seats currently filled by Harry Light, Jason Tigges, and Troy Miller respectively. Directors need to live in their districts to run for the positions, and need at least 48 signatures, but will be voted on at large by inhabitants of the school district.

Candidates will need to file their papers by 5pm on September 26th. Those running for a Stuart City Council position will need to submit their papers to the Adair County Auditor’s Office, while those running for one of the West Central Valley School Board positions will submit their papers to the school secretary. These two elections are not run through Guthrie County, because Stuart’s control county is Adair, while West Central Valley’s control county is Dallas.
