Today looks to be a fun one in Stuart.

Stuart Chamber member Nate Westre says that based off the success of RVTV’s visit last year the Thursday before the annual Cy-Hawk game, the Chamber wanted to continue the festivities, and the Gridiron Gatherin’ was born. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio what he’s looking forward to the most.

“I’m excited to see the smile on the kids’ faces when they go into the Kid Zone and see all the different things they can do. I know last year at RVTV, the lines to the face painters were big. Those were popular. The bounce house is always a big attraction for the kids, and we have two of those this year.”

From 3-5pm there is bingo, and the Kid Zone is open from 4-8 with a $5 admission. Also starting at 4pm is a Downtown Scavenger Hunt and Silent Disco. Westre says that for the Silent Disco, participants will use individual sets of headphones to listen to different kinds of music, all at the same time.

Then starting at 5:30pm there is a pep rally for West Central Valley featuring the band and cheer and dance teams, and a hula hoop race between the fall sports teams. Starting at 6pm there is going to be a bags tournament, and from 6-9 attendees of the event can try their arm at ax throwing. At 6:30pm there is a Beer Mile Relay Race, and the Craig Swalwell Band begins their performance at 7pm.

There is also going to be several food and craft vendors available throughout the afternoon and evening. Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio is also going to be on site to broadcast live from 4-7pm.
