Tuesday, September 5th
1:10am: An officer assisted the Jefferson Fire Department with a Carbon Monoxide Alarm at 1111 North Locust Street.
3:27am: An officer responded to an Alarm Activation at 106 West Washington Street. The business was secure.
5:16am: A caller advised of a dead deer in the roadway near Westwood and Briarwood. The officer removed the animal from the roadway.
7:55am: Chad McCollum reported a two-vehicle accident at Harrison and Locust Streets. He advised that both vehicles left the scene. The officer learned that the subjects involved had exchanged information and did not want assistance from the officer.
7:57am: Officers investigated an accident near Elm and 220th Streets. A 2023 Freightliner semi and trailer, owned by New Cooperative and operated by Lynn Smith of Bayard, was northbound on Elm Street. A 2015 Chevrolet Impala, owned by David Rivera and operated by Adrianna Rivera of Scranton, was also traveling north on Elm Street. Smith attempted to merge into the other lane and struck the Rivera vehicle while doing so. Both vehicles suffered damages. Smith was cited for, “Improper Use of Lane.”
8:16am: Several calls came in about confusion at the construction sites on 220th Street, thru Jefferson. The officer contacted the DOT about the issues.
8:55am: Gerald Sanchez reported a Backing Accident at 220th and Mulberry Streets. He reported both vehicles left the scene before the officer arrived.
1:03pm: Officers investigated a Backing Accident at 100 Ram Drive. A 2019 Rockport Truck, owned by Matrix Inc. of Humboldt and operated by Andrew Rohan of Fort Dodge, was backing in the private parking lot and struck a parked vehicle. The 2016 Ram 4500 was owned by Cummins Inc. of Des Moines. Both vehicles suffered a reported $100.00 in damages.
8:12pm: an officer investigated a Backing Accident at Lincoln Way and Wilson Avenue. A 2019 Kenworth T880, owned by Manatt’s Inc. of Brooklyn and operated by Jeremy Collings of Delta, was eastbound on Lincoln Way. The road was blocked off for an event at Lincoln Way and Wilson Ave. Collings attempted to back out of the area and struck a vehicle behind him. The 2011 Honda Pilot was owned and operated by Suzanne Krieger-Mjolsness of Nevada. The Collings vehicle did not have damage, while the Honda had a reported $1000.00 in damages.
