The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District is putting the focus on stopping bullying with a handbook that outlines policies and procedures.
ADM Superintendent Greg Dufoe says that the district has formed the “ADM Anti-Bullying and Harassment Handbook,” that is eight pages long. Dufoe explains this outlines ADM’s policies and procedures, defines terms like bullying and harassment along with other terms and then explains a step by step process on how someone should get help. Dufoe tells Raccoon Valley Radio that this new handbook is part of their response plan that they have been working on since the spring.
“Our handbook will really help provide information to students, parents and staff on how we identify and address incidents of possible bullying and harassment as well as other discipline issues. So we’re in the process of making sure that people have access to that document and also making sure our staff is well informed and knows how to act and then also teaching our students about it. So it’s been a very productive part of our response plan and we’re in the middle of actuating it this fall.”
Dufoe says this handbook will better streamline the process if a complaint of bullying or harassment occurs. The full handbook will be linked here.
