A two vehicle crash sends six people to the hospital with various injuries in Greene County Saturday night.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio he and some deputies, along with Greene County Ambulance, and Grand Junction Fire and Rescue responded to the scene at 8:14pm at the intersection of Iowa Highways 30 and 144, near Grand Junction. Williams says a 2015 Chevrolet Trax was stopped in the eastbound lane waiting for a train that was going across the tracks when a 2017 Toyota Prius rear-ended the Chevrolet going highway speeds.
Williams says two people were injured in the Chevrolet, including Loraine Clark of Beaver, who suffered life threatening injuries and was taken by air ambulance from the scene to a Des Moines hospital. The driver of the Chevrolet, Thomas Williams also of Beaver, was taken to Greene County Medical Center with injuries. Four people were in the Prius, including a passenger, Chloe Springis-Hudson of Boone who was first taken to the Greene County Medical Center and later by air ambulance to an Iowa City hospital.
The other occupants of the Prius suffered minor to serious injuries, including the driver, 21-year-old Kaleigh Anderson of Boone. The other two occupants were passengers and both vehicles were totaled in the collision. Williams says the intersection was closed for 2.5 hours.
