A reminder that tomorrow the downtown square in Jefferson will be filled with family-friendly activities.
Jefferson Matters is hosting the Block Party from 4-10pm Tuesday. Jefferson Matters Executive Director Matt Wetrich says there will be a variety of inflatables, tailgate games and some Cy/Hawk competitions on Lincoln Way and Wilson Avenue throughout the late afternoon and evening. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio everyone is welcome to attend to create a party atmosphere.
“So your Iowa and Iowa State fans get to show up and represent, and a little friendly trash talking, and some different competitions that we’re going to have. So essentially you are thinking of tailgating block party. It’s all free, we appreciate the sponsors that are helping us do this. Again just a fun way to celebrate the community and celebrating that Cyclone/Hawkeye rivalry.”
Some of the competitions include tug-of-war, a food relay race, and a human foosball game, along with other activities like face painting, chalk art, a dunk tank, a football toss and a basketball shooting game. Additionally, the Greene County Farmers Market is happening, a performance by the Town and Country Band, and the Shuffle Couple will also provide musical entertainment. Wetrich adds everything is free and the Block Party is in conjunction with RVTV being in town prior to the Cy/Hawk football game on Saturday.
A reminder for motorists that Lincoln Way from Wilson Avenue to Chestnut Street and Wilson Avenue from Lincoln Way to State Street will be closed on Tuesday.
