Dallas Center-Grimes football will be back under the lights tonight against the Newton Cardinals, a non district opponent.
The Mustangs will be looking to wipe the slate clean from last week’s 14-12 loss to Gilbert on the road. Dallas Center-Grimes racked up 211 yards of total offense against the Tigers and held Gilbert to just 98 yards rushing, but Gilbert won the field position and turnover battle. The Mustangs will have to improve those areas as they will play a hungry Newton Cardinal team that is coming off a 49-21 loss to the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Tigers. DCG Head Coach Scott Heitland says that Newton is a very balanced team with a bunch of good athletes.
“Very impressed with how quick they look on film because I know how fast ADM is, and I thought that they matched and even looked every bit as fast as ADM did on film over the weekend. They’ve got a very veteran offensive line, four seniors in the starting five, and I’m sure that those guys were all a part of last year’s postseason team. So that’s a group that’s got a lot of games under their belt.”
Raccoon Valley Radio will broadcast the game live from Mustang Stadium in Grimes on KDLS-2 with pregame coverage starting at 6pm and kickoff is set for 7pm.
