People living in central Iowa will start to see heavy machinery on the roadways starting early next week.
ISU Extension Central Iowa Field Agronomist Meaghan Anderson says that they expect farmers to be getting their combines out to start harvesting next week. Anderson says that means motorists will have to drive with caution when they see this heavy machinery on the roads.
“Farmers will be experiencing more difficulty seeing around that equipment. So it’s very hard. Their visibility to see vehicles behind them is challenging.”
Anderson says that when motorists approach these large vehicles on the road they need to use patience, keep a safe distance, utilize the safe to pass zones and be a defensive driver.
