A two vehicle crash on Highway 30 in Greene County Wednesday resulted in injuries and a citation.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, at 8:04am a 2003 Dodge Dakota truck driven by 48-year-old Dion Johnson of Fort Dodge was traveling west on Highway 30 near J Avenue when he dropped his cell phone and was trying to retrieve it and rear-ended a 2020 Ford Edge that was stopped behind other stopped vehicles in a construction zone, which was reduced to one lane and had a flagger and pilot car.

The crash report shows the driver of the Ford Edge, 71-year-old Kirk Wright of Jefferson tried to move his vehicle out of the way when he noticed the truck wasn’t going to stop. Both Wright and his passenger were injured and taken by Greene County Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Regional Hospital in Carroll. Johnson declined to be transported. Johnson was cited for failure to stop in an assured clear distance and failure to provide proof of financial liability insurance.
