Tomorrow night is the home opener for the Greene County High School Football Team and special guests are invited to come for free.

It is “Heroes Night” at Linduskia Field in Jefferson when the Rams host the Perry Bluejays for the annual “Cowbell” game. Anyone who is a military veteran or active member, along with first responders, firefighters, and law enforcement can get into the game for free if they have their appropriate identification.

Greene County Activities Director Dave Wright says the school district believes it is important to recognize these individuals in our communities that keep us safe and protect our freedoms. He points out that everyone should feel fortunate to have volunteers who also dedicate their careers to serve the public, which can be taken for granted sometimes. Wright adds that having “Heroes Night” is one way to say ‘thank you’ to these individuals and to have the students see them and be inspired by them to give back when they are older.

Additionally, the local “heroes” will be recognized at halftime of the football game. Kickoff is slated for 7pm and coverage of the game will be on KGRA 98.9FM or streamed live on raccoonvalleyradio.com beginning at 6:30pm.
