The AC/GC Chargers were in Dallas Center Tuesday night for cross country, and both the boys and girls teams placed in the top 10 for their respective meets. The boys team was led by senior Andrew Mahaffey, who took the 4th place finish with a time of 17 minutes 6 seconds, while junior Gavin Sloss came in 18th with a time of 18 minutes 4 seconds. Junior Noah Kading captured 36th in 18 minutes 58 seconds, while senior Lance Bunde’s time of 19 minutes 9 seconds secured 37th place. Fellow senior Bo Arrasmith finished with a time of 19 minutes 24 seconds for 44th, while freshman Preston Kent nabbed 45th in 19 minutes 26 seconds, and senior Jarrett McClain secured 51st place with a time of 19 minutes 53 seconds. The team had a combined time of 1 hour 32 minutes 41 seconds for 139 points, earning them 6th place as a team.

The girls team was led by junior Ava Campbell, who finished with a time of 21 minutes 44 seconds for 19th place, while junior Adalyn Benson finished 36th with a time of 23 minutes 32 seconds. Senior Hayden Coffman took 37th with a time of 23 minutes 34 seconds, and freshman Cadence Peterson finished a second behind her for 38th. Senior Emmerson Van Meter finished 59th in 25 minutes 29 seconds, while junior Paige Van Meter secured 66th with a time of 26 minutes 22 seconds and senior Kately Schafer grabbed 67th in 26 minutes 41 seconds. The team had a combined time of 1 hour 57 minutes 54 seconds, and scored 189 points to take 8th place.

Both teams return to action Saturday, as they travel to Pella for a varsity meet hosted by the Pella Dutch.
