The West Central Valley Wildcats football team fell to the Panorama Panthers on Friday night in their season opener 28-17. It was a close game in the first half as both teams were neck and neck going into the break. The Panthers led West Central Valley 21-14 going into the locker room. It was more of a defensive affair in the 3rd quarter as both teams only mustered a total of 3 points. West Central Valley cut into the Panorama lead as they finished the 3rd quarter trailing 21-17. Panorama put the dagger touchdown on the board however in the 4th quarter that sealed the win for the Panthers. West Central Valley quarterback Nate Gerling threw 115 yards in 12 attempts, he also rushed for one touchdown and ran for 33 yards on the ground. On the Panorama side, QB Cayden Van Meer threw for 213 yards in 30 attempts and a touchdown. Panorama did most of their damage threw the air as a team as they finished with 213 passing yards as opposed to 115 for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats will look to bounce back next week as they take on Shenandoah on the road in Week 2 this upcoming Friday. Shenandoah also dropped their first game this past Friday night, falling to Clarinda 46-7. Kickoff will be at 7:00 this upcoming Friday night at Mustang Field and Ray Graves Track.
