The filing period for nominations for the upcoming November city and school board elections is underway.

According to the Greene County Auditor’s Office, anyone wanting to run for the Jefferson mayoral or two seats on the city council must get at least 25 signatures on their nomination paper to be on the ballot. All of the  ther mayoral and city council seats in the county must get a minimum of ten signatures. As for the two school districts and their school board elections, for the two Greene County School Board seats, candidates must get at least 50 signatures from eligible voters in the district. There are two seats on the Paton-Churdan School Board and candidates must get a minimum of ten signatures.

The filing deadline for mayoral and city council nomination papers must be submitted to the Greene County Auditor’s Office by 5pm on September 21st. Individuals looking to run for either school board in the county must submit their nomination papers to that district’s school board secretary also by 5pm on September 21st.
