Iowa hunters can dust off their gear and begin to schedule their next hunt.
Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officer for Dallas County Dustin Eighmy says that Dove and Teal hunting seasons start on Friday. Eighmy mentions that dove and teal season are a popular time for hunters. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that hunters can research where the dove plots are located in the county by clicking on the hunting atlas on the DNR’s website.
“Typically those are sunflowers, but can be winter wheat and some other things. But those are going to be some very busy areas. Just be mindful of your shooting zone where you’re shooting. Make sure you have a clean pattern shot path so you’re not affecting any other hunters in those things.”
Eighmy notes a big reason why this is a popular time for hunters is due to the weather usually being very nice.
