The 2023-24 school year is underway for the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District and the superintendent is looking forward to another year of positive learning.

Greg Dufoe has entered his 16th year as the superintendent, and he says that their main goal will stay the same this year. Dufoe mentions that their student achievement goal will be to reduce their percentage of students not proficient on a standardized literacy assessment from 13-percent to 8-percent.

Dufoe adds that they have a system in place to identify which students are not proficient and what are their areas of strengths and weaknesses.

“Now it’s just about focusing on students that need more of very, very effective instruction.”

Dufoe says they are also encouraged with the amount of students entering the literacy advanced category, and they want to see those students continue to grow.
