The AC/GC Chargers came out on top in their season and home opening game. The team faced off against a tough Ogden Bulldogs team, along with the weather. The heat caused fatigue and exhaustion on both sides of the field, and several players cramped up during the second half of the game. The Chargers scored first, taking an 8-0 lead, then were able to block a point after attempt to stay in the lead 8-6, but a pick 6 put the Bulldogs up 13-8 with minutes to go before halftime. AC/GC answered though, and the score at the half was 14-13 Chargers.

AC/GC scored once more to go up 20-13 by the end of the third, and Ogden tacked on another touchdown for the score to go 20-19 in favor of the Chargers, who were able to hold off a last minute drive and win the game. The offensive play of the game came off a big 60 yard rush by senior Nate Chance, who actually had another identical rush, but the ball was called back because of a foul. The defensive play of the game came in the last 30 seconds, when junior Taytum Bates picked off a pass to keep the Bulldogs from scoring, giving the Chargers the ball on their own 1 yard line with 20 seconds on the clock.

The Chargers return to practice on Monday, but hit the road next Friday to take on the Earlham Cardinals, who won their game against the Central Decatur Cardinals 25-7. Head Coach Cody Matthewson says that the game will be an interesting one, as Earlham is a run offense just like AC/GC.
