Greene County improved to 2-2 on the young volleyball season with a three set victory over Ft. Dodge St. Edmond in the air-conditioned high school gym in Jefferson on Thursday night. The Rams are 7-4 in sets while the action was the first of the season for the Class 1A Gaels.

Scores were 25-9, 25-17, 25-10 as Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s team played in front of the home crowd for the first time this season. The Rams used a 9-0 first set run to lead 9-1 and they cruised from there. Set two saw Greene County lead 9-1 again and this time the Gaels played even the rest of the way, but they weren’t able to close the gap on the Rams. The third set was tied 3-3 before the Rams scored six unanswered points to take control and the Gaels never got closer.
