The start of the school year is right around the corner.
Stuart Police Sergeant Katie Guisinger says that for students returning to classes, there are several things to keep in mind in terms of safety. She adds that for student drivers, it’s important to follow the rules of the road, and of their licenses, explaining there are different rules for beginners and intermediate licenses. Guisinger shares another tip for those that walk to school.
“For the younger kids, I always tell them if you’re going from point A to B, let’s get from point A to B. If we’re going from home to school, know your route, stay in a group, go with friends. If you don’t know someone, a stranger, we don’t need to talk to strangers. Just that basic reminder.”
Guisinger mentions that both the students driving and walking need to pay attention to other people driving as well to help make sure that everyone stays safe while traveling to and from school.
