The Perry School District Transportation Director Troy Griffith recently received a prestigious award for his hard work and dedication.

Griffith was the recipient of the Tom Horn Award from the Iowa Pupil Transportation Association. The award goes to an IPTA member who serves in a leadership role who exhibits leadership skills, and service to Iowa’s pupil transportation program, school district and community. Griffith is a graduate in Perry High School, and he has been working for the district for 30 years. He says that he could not get this award without the help of his team of coworkers.

“Winning this award has meant a lot to me and I could not have done it without my drivers supporting me.”

Superintendent Clark Wicks also mentions that Griffith is valuable to getting all the students to school and their activities on time.

“We’re just really proud to say that our transportation director here in Perry, Troy Griffith, received that award. So great job on Troy’s part. Great honor.”

Wicks also points out that the Perry Community School District needs more bus drivers for this year.
