With the season getting set to kick off on Friday night for the Perry Bluejays football team on the gridiron, I am going to finish my preview of players on the offensive side of the ball as well as name a couple defensively to look out for when the Bluejays hit the field on Friday night.

In terms of the WR room, there are 4 names for Perry from both 2022 that have graduated and ones that will be returning this year. Those 4 are Holden Smith, Drake Levan, Juan Hernandez, and Eric Lagos. Holden Smith led the Bluejays in receptions last year with 9 catches for 58 yards and a touchdown. Smith however has graduated and Perry will look forward to Drake Levan and Eric Lagos, with Juan Hernandez also one of the graduating seniors from a year ago. Levan had 3 receptions for 21 yards in the 2022 season. Eric Lagos only had a reception for one yard. Perry head coach Tyler Hovey will look to bring some more guys into the WR room this year, as Perry opens their season on Friday night.

On the defensive side of the ball for the Perry Bluejays, Keegan Snyder, Kain Kilmer, and Kevin Colin are the returning seniors for Perry. Keegan Snyder put up 10 total tackles on the season. Kain Kilmer also had 7 tackles for Perry, followed by Kevin Colin with 9. The Bluejays will look to replace Anthony Chavez and Juan Hernandez who were two key pieces on the Perry defense as well from a year ago. That’s a wrap on my position breakdown for the Perry Bluejays going into their matchup on Friday night with Des Moines Hoover. Kickoff of the game will be at 7:30 at Perry High School.
