The most recent report from the US Drought Monitor shows that even with recent rains, things remain dry in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area.

Dallas County is facing abnormally dry conditions in the majority of the county, with the southeast corner in a moderate drought; while the extreme northwest corner of Greene County faces a moderate drought and the rest of the county is abnormally dry. Guthrie County is mainly abnormally dry, while the southwestern third of the county is in a moderate drought.

According to the National Weather Service, so far in August, Guthrie Center has seen a total of 3.15 inches of rain, while Jefferson has seen 2.69 inches and Perry has seen 3.61 inches.
